1989 Mallard Sprinter 29' Travel Trailer

After buying a 3/4 ton Chevy Suburban to tow our travel trailer with, it was only justified to buy a bigger camper.  In 1990, we bought a 1989 Mallard Sprinter, 29'7" tow behind unit.  It was only a year old and we were told that the former owners only used it twice and traded it because they were uncomfortable with it because it was so big.  We bought that story because the ice cube trays and oven broiler had never been taken out of their cellophane wrapping.

It fit our needs very well at the time.  It had a two-berth bunkhouse in the back for the girls and a fold-out sofa for David, Jr.

We towed this unit cross-country in 1993, a total of 9979 miles.  Over a six week period, it rolled through 22 states on our way to California and back.  We took day trips to two other states on that vacation and it also saw at least six other states during the time we owned it.

We owned this rig twelve seasons and in 2001 sold it to a family from Gouverneur that we knew casually.  We actually ran into them one time while camping with this trailer in a campground on Cape Cod.  Ironically, we owned it longer than any other camper and yet the only pictures we have able to find of it were taken in our yard after the ice storm of 1998.  Then in 2013, 13 years after selling it, we found some other pics taken in the yard at Edwards before our garage was built.  These were in a box of things that we sorted through after moving to Pillar Point.
